Roofing contractors use built-up felt because it has the attributes of being strong, flexible and providing high impact resistance

It is formed by sandwiching multiple layers of mat polyester fibre reinforcements between layers of water resistant bitumen. When multiple layers are combined it results in a longer lasting roof which often significantly surpasses its expected life span.

Built-up felt is cheap and easy to maintain. It can be repaired with conventional materials, and as such can further extend the life span of the roof.
